Focus Groups
March 3rd, 2009One down and one to go, we are currently in the final stages of the project. We ran a focus group at Cambourne in Cornwall last week and have another at Plymouth City College this Thursday. I hope we will be posting some findings on here in due course. More soon.
An overdue update
February 2nd, 2009How time flys when you are busy. We are nearing the end of the UsPaCe project and now looking towards our evaluation. There hasn’t been a lot to report of late from ourselves as the systems have been left to our users to get on with.
Overall it’s gone very smoothly with the community running [...]

September 22nd, 2008Today Neil and I went to City College Plymouth and ran a student induction for 12 Public Services Students. They worked in a number of different areas including Police, Fire Service, ETC.
We split the induction into 2 sections, firstly a short presentation discussing the background to the project and how we got to where we [...]
UsPaCe Launch Update (Modifications, Preparations and Iritations)
September 16th, 2008Well I think we are well overdue an update on here. It’s been a busy couple of weeks getting things ready for the launch.
As the title of this post suggests there have been a few changes. I decided to change the way we did the I-Google customised homepage. We now have around 16 [...]
Videos/icons….done!
July 31st, 2008What a productive morning, I’ve fixed an annoying bug with youtube videos that has annoyed me from day one – see here.
I have also added a pluggin called friendicons which does exactly what it says on the tin and allows you to have icons of your friends instead of text. see here.
Have a good open [...]

Going Live….
May 14th, 2008This week I have been busy setting up everything for our first UsPaCe Pilot.
We have 11 courses across 3 institutions with around 150 students taking part in this first pilot.
Initially we have used Google Calendars for the tutors and course staff to provide a resource containing term dates, deadlines, etc for students. An [...]
Preparing for Pilot 1
May 7th, 2008We have been particularly busy this last few weeks preparing for our first pilot of UsPaCe.
Tutors have been introduced to the community and are currently setting up Google Calendars. These will then be linked to via RSS in each of the course I-Google tabs we have developed. We are hoping to get the [...]
Another ELGG Patch – Inviting people to your community or group
April 16th, 2008Today whilst running through our support materials I found a bug.
When you invite someone to a community they received a request within the system but an email wasn’t sent out. Once again the ELGG forum came up trumps and I found a code patch. After backing up the site, testing the patch in our sandbox [...]
JISC Conference 2008
April 16th, 2008Yesterday myself, Neil, Anne and Ali Press (Cornwall) went along to the annual JISC conference 2008.
This was my first visit to this conference and I found it to be an interesting experience. A majority of projects I saw seemed to be based around Web2.0 technologies. It definitely felt like UsPaCe is very much on [...]
